A birthday party was held for Harvey Virgil, who was 101 on Easter Sunday. He is a resident of the I. O. O. F. home and the party was held in the chapel there Sunday afternoon. Residents of the home sang "Happy Birthday" to him and Duane Moore played a saxophone solo, "The Lost Chord." Formerly a resident of Sheldon, he was born at Beloit, Wis., April 9, 1849. He has been a resident of the I. O. O. F. home since Jan. 13, 1930. "There's an old saying, 'Once a man and twice a baby'," said Mr. Virgil on his birthday. "That's true, and to prove it I received Easter bunnies and candy and a rabbit rattle!" Mr. Virgil received many presents and congratulations from his friends and relatives.

100 YEARS TO A DAY
Relatives and residents of the I.O.O.F. home Saturday congratulated Harvey Virgil on his 100th birthday. Mr. Virgil believes that perhaps the first 100 years are the hardest, for he has a pretty easy time now at the home. He is up and around every day, but some days are better than others. He is well liked at the home and is a good conversationalist. Formerly a resident of Sheldon, he was born at Beloit, Wis., April 9, 1849. He has been at the I.O.O.F. home here since Jan. 13, 1930.Mason City Globe Gazette
