I have only one surname, Gerdes. My grandfather's name was Paul, my mother's name is Buena Mae Gerdes,(born in Chicago, 1929). Her mother's name was Ethel and we think she was from Wisconsin. We were told Paul came to Chicago from Sheffield, Iowa before the depression. My mother was put in a foster home when she was nine. I am just trying to find a connection. Paul had 10 siblings.
