ROCKWELL - Ralph E. Scholl, 76, formerly of 309 Maple St., in Rockwell, died Thursday evening (Oct. 16, 2003) at the Rockwell Community Nursing Home, following a lengthy illness. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, with military graveside services provided by the Rockwell American Legion Gallagher Post No. 208.

Ralph Eugene Scholl was born Jan. 10, 1927, on the family farm two miles west of Rockwell, to Nicholas and Della (Eye) Scholl. Ralph met his future wife, Ida Rose Tibbits, while attending a dance at the Surf Ballroom in Clear Lake, and the two later married at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Aug. 16, 1952.

Ralph was honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy in December of 1947, with the rank of Seaman First Class, after serving his country during World War II.

He was a nurturing grandfather to his five grandchildren: Meagen Scholl, Blake Gudbaur and his wife, Amy, Justin Scholl and his wife, Katie, Sarah Gudbaur, and Jordan Scholl.

He is survived by his wife, Ida Rose, of Rockwell; his daughter, Cheryl Gudbaur, of Green Bay, Wis.; his son, Mark and his wife, Annette, of Rockwell; his two sisters, Lucille Mathas, of Rapid City, Ill., and Lavon Rooney and her husband, Joe, of Dougherty; his five grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends.

Preceding Ralph in death were his parents, Nicholas and Della; and two brothers, Clifford and Walter Scholl.
