Mason City, Cerro Gordo County, IowaMASON CITY - Mary Lou Scholl, 74, of 302 Second St. N.E., died Thursday (Jan. 8, 2004) at the Good Shepherd Health Center. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., with the Rev. Kathy Graves, director of spiritual care of Hospice of North Iowa, officiating. Interment will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Rockwell.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Major Erickson Funeral Home.
Memorials may be given to the Mary Lou Scholl Memorial Fund.

Waiting to greet her were her husband, Bill; mother, Lucille; father, Ernie; and brother, Jim. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue, Mason City, with the Rev. Kathy Graves, Director of Spiritual Care, Hospice of North Iowa, officiating. Interment will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Rockwell. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the Major Erickson Funeral Home. Memorials may be given to the Easter Seal Society or to the Animal Shelter.
Mary Lou was born July 11, 1929, the daughter of Ernest and Lucille (Prestholt) Fankell in rural Clear Lake. She was raised on a farm and attended schools in Clear Lake. Mary Lou married William J. Scholl on March 26, 1949, in Mason City.
Mary Lou will be remembered for her love of family, friends, books and cats.
Mary Lou is survived by four daughters, Patricia Bohl and husband, Doug; Pam Bengtson and husband, Gary; Kit Lancaster and husband, Rick, and Lynn Bengtson and husband, Bob; four sons, Mike Scholl (Jean Stricker), Steve Scholl and wife, Vickie, Tom Scholl, and Brian Scholl; 12 grandchildren, Jamie, Travis, Joe, Molly, Lacy, Sarah, Tim, Willie, Reece, Christopher, Leslie and Robyn; eight great-grandchildren, Jordyn, Coby, Alixandra, Johnnie Kay, Stevie, Dakota, Dallas and Madison; brother, Tom Fankell and wife, Mary; and sister, Jane Schintgen.
