Obituary ~ Pauline Eleanor (Quade) Schmitt
August 26, 1919 ~ June 22, 1996

Pauline Eleanor Schmitt, 76, died Saturday (June 22, 1996) at the North Iowa Mercy Health Center, East Campus.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Stephen L. Meyer officiating. Interment will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery.

Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. today at the Sacred Heart Parish Hall with a scripture service at 7:30 p.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy may direct memorials to the Pauline E. Schmitt memorial fund.

Pauline was born on August 26, 1919, to Robert and Gladys (Waidelich) Quade. Following graduation from Colwell High School, Pauline was united in marriage to Edward Schmitt on Feb. 7, 1948, in Roseville.

Pauline spent most of her time raising her nine children and being a homemaker, she also enjoyed shopping, embroidering, gardening, and canning. Pauline was also known for baking good pies, cookies, and homemade breads when time was available. She was active with the Guilds of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, were she was also a member. She loved to travel and visit family whenever possible. She enjoyed watching the Chicago Bulls and the Iowa Hawkeyes play basketball on T.V.

Pauline is survived by her husband, Edward; five daughters, Mrs. Ralph (Janice) Brighton of Highlands Ranch, Colo., Mrs. Rod (Trish Bean of Johnston, Mrs. Al (Marlene) Paulus of Chillicothe, Mo., Dianne Schmitt of Joilet, Ill., and Kathleen Schmitt of Omaha, Neb.; four sons, Gary Schmitt and wife Jeannette of Rockwell, Mike Schmitt of Rockwell, Jim Schmitt of Omaha, Neb., and Leroy Schmitt and wife Beth of Rockwell.

Pauline was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Gladys Quade; two sisters, Marion Harrison and Evelyn Schrandt; and one grandson, Andrew Bean.
