G.A. Hansen Dies Suddenly
Rites to Be Held Thursday Afternoon

George Alfred Hansen, 57, Rock Falls, died sudenly about 4 p. m. Tuesday enroute to a Mason City hospital, following a heart attack on Highway 65 about six miles south of Mason City.

Mr. Hansen was employed by the Iowa State Highway Commission and was supervising the mowing of weeds along the highway at the time of the attack.

Mr. Hansen was born Feb. 22, 1895, at Anamosa, the son of Paul and Emma Hansen. He moved with his family to a farm near Nora Springs, and later to a farm east of Rock Falls.

In World War I

In 1917 he enlisted for service in World War I and spent 18 months overseas with the 7th Division of the U.S. Army. He returned to Rock Falls from service in 1919.

He was married to Bertha Coonrod, Dec. 8, 1923, at Plymouth. They established their residence in Rock Falls, where they continued to reside.

For 22 years he ws emplyed by the Chicago Rock Island and Pacific Railroad, and for the past eight years had been employed by the Iowa State Highway Commission. He was confirmed in the German Lutheran Church and was a member of the Modern Woodmen of America.

Family Survives

Surviving are his wife, two sons, George Hansen Jr., Rock Falls, and Rodney, Mason City, and a daughter, Mrs. Roger (Shirley) Wyborny, Rock Falls, and four grandchildren, and three brothers and three sisters, Paul, Anna, Matilda and Edwin Hansen, all of Rock Falls, Henry Hansen, Sacramento, Calif., and Mrs. Dora Christiansen, Mason City.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, John and Herman Hansen.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2:30 p.m. at the McAuley and Son Chapel, with the Rev. George Scheider, pastor of the First Methodist Church, Rock Falls, officiating. Interment will be at the Rock Falls Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted at the graveside. The McAuley and Son Funeral Home is in charge.
