Cpl. Willard C. Sharff, 25, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bert Sharff, 121 29th S.W., was killed in action on April 28 in the European theater of war, according to a telegram recieved here. Cpl. Sharff, before entering the service in February, 1943, was a salesman in Oelwein. He had been overseas since January. He was born on June 5, 1918, and was a graduate of the Oelwein high school. His parents came to Mason City from Oelwein 12 years ago.
Cpl. Sharff is survived by his father, his step-mother, and a sister, Sgt. Margaret E. Sharff of Colorado Springs, Colo. His grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Sharff, Sr., of Lamont, also survive.
