June, 2012Reva Molly TICE PETERS, 98, of Swaledale, died on Tuesday, June 12, 2012, at the Rockwell Community Nursing Home, Rockwell.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, June 15, at the Retz Funeral Home in Thornton. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, June 16, at 10 a.m. at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, Thornton, with the Rev. Rhea EVANSON officiating. Graveside services will be at Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Swaledale.
Family suggests memorials to St. Paul Lutheran Church or Rockwell Community Nursing Home.
Reva was born May 16, 1914, in rural Clear Lake, daughter of Chariton and Mollie TICE. She graduated from Clear Lake High School. Reva married Louie PETERS on Oct. 11, 1936.
She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church for 76 years. Reva was a member of St. Paul's WELCA, Swaledale Area Ladies and Swaledale Cemetery Society of which she was the treasurer for 22 years.
She enjoyed playing "500" card game with her friends every Wednesday in Swaledale. Reva was very interested in all aspects of farming with her son and son-in-laws. She would drive daily, checking on the boys and what they were doing. Her son-in-laws nicknamed her the "chief."
Reva is survived by her son, Gary (Karen) of Clear Lake; four daughters, Darling (Tootie) (Daryl) BUCHOLTZ of Swaledale, Mary Jane RAWSON, Sheffield, Beverly (Ronald) BEHR, Rockwell, and Debra (Ronald) TREWIN, Lisbon; 16 grandchildren, Mike BUCHOLTZ, Pamela GOODYEAR, David PETERS, John PETERS, Connie HUFFMAN, Anne Marie DENHOLM, Kristine SCHMIDA, Shari ROGERS, Stacy BYRE, Jody WISEMAN, Scott GAUBATZ, Doug PETERS, Steve PETERS, Ryan TREWIN, Nicholas TREWIN and Allison TREWIN; 24 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Harvey TICE, Birmingham, Ala., and Don TICE, Clear Lake; daughter-in-law, Nancy PETERS, Mason City; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Louie in 1974; parents Chariton and Mollie TICE; son, Lynn PETERS, 1989; and son-in-law, Michael RAWSON, 2006; two brothers, Gayle TICE and Dison TICE; and two sisters, Vivian KRAFT and Patricia REAMS.
