Grover, Al, Fred and Howard Are Out to Top Sports Records
Capt. Howard STOECKER, Lieut. Al STOECKER and Aviation Cadet Fred STOECKER, sons of Mr. and Mrs. Albert STOECKER, 1004 Elm drive, are three Mason Cityans whose service records promised to be as outstanding as their high school sports achievements.
Howard, who received his captaincy six weeks ago, is in the air corps reserves. He is with Pan-American Airways, and is in Panama. However, he expects to rejoin his wife in Brownsville, Tex., shortly.
Al writes to his parents from somewhere in England that he has been made a lieutenant first grade. He is a civil engineer with the army, and prior to going overseas, he helped to plan army camps in Missouri and Kansas.
Mrs. Al STOECKER is a member of the WAAC, in the motor transport division at Fort Des Moines.
Fred, youngest of the three, has just finished his primary training in the army air corps, and is taking basic training at Waco, Tex. His wife is with him at the base.
Realizing that t good defense is the best offense, Grover STOECKER, the oldest of the brothers, enrolled in the ranks of the camp construction crews. He was a foreman, but has recently been made an inspector in a civil service capacity, at Pueblo, Colo.

Word from Lamesa, Tex. states that Fred G. STOECKER, aviation student, has received his wings as a rated liaison pilot and had been promoted to staff sergeant upon graduation at the head of his class from the 3rd army air forces liaison training detachment here. Staff Sgt. STOECKER and wife are now in California where he has been transferred.
Capt. Al STOECKER has been in England for the last 2 years. He is company commander in civil engineering and writes that he is fortunate in having a fine and exceptionally well-trained group of engineers insomuch that his company tops the whole regiment. Capt. STOECKER'S wife, Aline STOECKER, with the WACs when that organization was an auxiliary of the army, received an honorable discharge at the time it became a part of the regular army in order that she might assist her father who had lost his business help to the service.
Capt. Howard STOECKER's wife and year-old son are at Brownville, Tex., where the captain is based as a flyer for the Pan-American Airways.
SSgt. Frederick G. "Fred" STOECKER was listed as missing in action over Holland on November 25, 1944. He was laster declared deceased and was memorialized at Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City, Iowa.
