KILLED IN ACTION IN FRANCE

Requiem High Mass to Be Held Tuesday at Holy Family

Soleumn requiem high mass is to be held for PFC Eugene P. KIRSCHBAUM, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ollie KIRSCHBAUM, 1422 Washington N.W., Tuesday at 9 a.m. at the Holy Family Catholic Church. Rev. R. P. MURPHY, pastor of the church, will serve as celebrant.

Patriortic organizations, the American Legionand its Auxiliary, the V.F.W. and auxiliary, the Navy Mothers, the Spanish American War Veterans, United Service Women, Rainbow Veterans and auxiliary and Daughters of Union Veterans, will attend services in a body.

Pfc. KIRSCHBAUM was killed in action somewhere in France on July 11th, according to a telegram received here Thursday. PFC KIRSCHBAM was attached to the armored force. He entered the service Feb. 16, 1943, and took his basic training at Fort Knox, Ky., and was later stationed at Camp Campbell, Ky. He was home on furlough in June of 1943 and immediately after was sent to England, arriving there in September of 1943. He was stationed there until the invasion of France.

Pfc. KIRSCHBAUM was born on Sept. 27, 1922, at Waterloo, Iowa. He was a graduate of the Wesley high school with the class of 1941. As a civilian he worked for Jacob E. Decker and Sons.

Besides his parents, Pfc. KIRSCHBAUM is survived by 3 sisters, Mrs. Maxine ADREON of Des Moines, Loretta, and Mary Ann at home, and one brother, Jerry, at home.

PARENTS GET PURPLE HEART

The purple heart for Pfc. Eugene KIRSCHBAUM, who gave his life for his country in France on July 11, has been received by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ollie KIRSCHBAUM, 1422, Washington, N.W.

Pfc. KIRSCHBAUM drove a tank in the armored division and went to France on D-Day. Prior to that he had been stationed in England, having been overseas since September, 1942. He enlisted in the service on Feb. 16, 1942.
