DOUGHERTY -- Clark E. DOUGHERTY, 87, of Dougherty, IA, died Monday, March 20, 2006, at Mercy Medical Center in Mason City.

A Visitation will be held on Thursday, march 23, 2006 from 4-7 P.M. at St. Patrick's School in Dougherty. The scriptural wake service will be at 7:00 P.M. followed by a Knights of Columbus rosary.

Clark E. DOUGHERTY was born on November 9, 1918 in Mason City, IA to Edward G. and Beulah M. DOUGHERTY. He attended country school north of Dougherty through the eighth grade and graduated from St. Patrick's Catholic School in Dougherty.

After his graduation Clark farmed with his father from 1936 through 1942 when he enlisted in the United States Army. He served his country in the European Theatre during WW II. After his honorable discharge in 1946, Clark returned to Dougherty and resumed farming.

Clark was united in marriage to Mauriece Rose MURPHY on June 26, 1948 at St. John's Catholic Church in Cartersville, IA. After their marriage they farmed the family farm and lived in Dougherty where Clark has continued to live ever since.

He was a lifetime member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Dougherty. He also was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Dougherty American Legion Post #354, and the Mason City VFW Post 733. Clark was on the board of directors for the Dougherty Farmers Coop and the Rockwell Cooperative Telephone.

He enjoyed caring for animals, traveling to and taking part in his army units reunions, which was the 14th armored division. Wherever Clark was you would more than likely see his dog, Dakota. He also enjoyed his family and friends greatly.

Clark is survived by his son, Patrick (Jessica) of Grande View, TX, daughter, Pauline (Larry) GODDARD of Owatona, MN, sons, Phillips (Alice) of Dougherty, and Ronald (Tami) of Dougherty. Grandchildren, Jennifer (Dan) GODDARD-STRAND of Blooming Prairie, MN, Amanda, Ryan and Aaron DOUGHERTY of Dougherty. Great-granddaughers, Heather STRAND and Tiyana Dougherty ROGERS. He is survived by one sister, Gladys (Babe) CUBBAGE of Cedar Rapids, IA and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mauriece on August 2, 1998, parents Edward and Beulah DOUGHERTY, and two grandsons, Nick and Ben DOUGHERTY.
