Earl Potter, 65, dies in Des Moines

Earl G. Potter, 65, retired mill operator of the Northwestern States Portland Cement Company, died Saturday in the Veterans Administration Hospital, Des Moines. He had lived in Mason City 43 years and had been making his home at 1627 N. President.

Mr. Potter was born Jan. 18, 1900, at Leland. After farming for a time, he was employed by the M & St. L. Railroad.

He was married to Alvira Celia Smith, April 26, 1919, at Forest City. They moved to Mason City in 1922. He was employed by several industries here before joining Northwestern States Portland Cement Company. He retired from the plant in 1958.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete. The Patterson-James Funeral Home is in charge. Visitation at the chapel will be after 3 p.m. Tuesday.
