Roland L. "Louie" Grundel, 79, of 925 17th St. N.E., Mason City,and formerly of Plymouth,
died unexpectedly Wenesday (Feb.15, 1995) at North Iowa Mercy Health Center East.
Funeral sevices were held on Saturday at the Wesley United Methodist Church, Mason City.
Rev. David R. Shogren officiating.
Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery Mason City Iowa.
Roland "Louie" Grundel was born Oct. 6, 1915, in Clear Lake, the son of Louis and Susanna (Flick) Grundel.
He attended country school in rual Rock Falls.
On Feb. 25, 1941, at St. John Lutheran Church, rural Grafton, he married Pearl Jane Ruffridge.
Mr. Grundel was a longtime farmer. He farmed on the family farm east of Plymouth for over 30 years.
In addition to farming,he worked at the Crystal Sugar Beet Plant, north of Mason City, for many of those years.
He moved to Mason City in 1979.
Mr. Grundel was a member of the Plymouth United Methodist Church and the Farm Bureau.
He enjoyed traveling, especially vacationing with his family in the summer.
Living members include his wife, Pearl of Mason City;
four daughters, Mary (Glenn) Sorbo of northwood;
Alice (Roger) Schroeder of Marshalltown;
Gloria Richardson
and Sally (John) Lunde both of Mason City.
a sister, Mrs. Edna Hoffman of Mason City;
a brother and his wife, George and Doris Grundel of St. Ansgar;
nine grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.
Grandchildren include Mark Bailey of Nora Springs,
and Dennis Bailey of Rock Falls.
In addition to his parents, he was preceeded in death by a sister, Teresa Frahm.
