MASON CITY - Clay L. Woodhouse, 72, 1208 Second St. S.W. died Saturday (Aug. 19, 1989) at home of natural causes.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Holy Family Church, 714 N. Adams Ave. The Rev. Joseph J. Slepicka and the Rev. Paul C. McManus will officiate, with burial in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery. Full military honors will be provided by the Mason City Veterans Memorial Association and the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps Reserves from Waterloo.

Mr. Woodhouse was born July 18, 1916 at Blooming Prairie, Minn., a son of William H. and Sarah J. (Helm), Woodhouse. He was a 1934 graduate of Mason City High School.

On Nov. 5, 1937, he was married to Rosalie M. Madden at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Mason City. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Following his discharge, he returned to Mason City and was employed at the Northwestern States Portland Cement Co. in the laboratory as an assistant chemist for 42 years, retiring Feb. 1, 1979. He formerly served as a director of Northwestern States Portland Cement Company's Employee Credit Union.

He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, Mason City Council No. 1006 Elk's Lodge No. 375, Mason City, and the American Legion Post in Mason City.

Visitation will be after 3 p.m. today at Hogan-Bremer Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E., where a Catholic Daughters of the Americas rosay [sic] will be recited at 4 p.m. A combined Knights of Columbus rosary and scriptural wake will be held at 7:30 tonight at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the Clay L. Woodhouse Memorial Fund.

Survivors include his wife, Rosalie, of Mason City; two daughters, Mrs. David (Pat) Schlader, Marble Rock, and Mrs. Steven (Michelle) Bell, Rockwell; one son, Michael A. (Mary Beth) Woodhouse, Mason City; and 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and four brothers.
