Catherine A. Kent, 92, of Rockwell, died Sunday (Jan. 14, 1996) at the Rockwell Nursing Home.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church, Rockwell, with the Rev. Lonnie Wilson officiating. Burial will be in the Rockwell Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Grarup FuneralHome, Sheffield.

Catherine A. Kent was born Oct. 2, 1903, in Rockwell, a daughter of George and Maude (Roderick) Grummon. She attended school in the Rockwell school system and upon graduation, she went on to receive her advanced education at Iowa State Teacher's College in Cedar Falls. She taught school in the Oran and Rockwell school systems along with country school in Cerro Gordo County. She also worked as an assistant librarian for the Mason City Public Library.

She was united in marriage to Craig Kent on March 10, 1938. They made their home near Floyd until moving to the family farm north of Dougherty. Upon retiring, they moved into Rockwell.

Catherine enjoyed writing in her spare time.

She is survived by her sister, Ruth Oetken and her husband, Clarence, of Rockwell; and two sisters-in-law, Ruth Bullion of Waco, Texas, and Mable Posz and her husband, Charles, of Gary,
Ind.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and three brothers, Gilbert, Dan and Edwin.
