Murder at Mason City.
Mason City, Iowa, Aug. 31 —Mrs. A. C. Linhoff to day confessed to the murder of Edwin C. Bromley last night. This is the culmination of a long series of family quarrels. The Linhoff and Bromley families are neighbors. Trouble was introduced by the children quarreling over the use of a pump. The older members took the quarrel up, and twice went into court. Last evening a woman living in the same house with the Bromleys, Mrs. Charles Kettleson, got into trouble with Linhoff. Bromley took up the trouble and went over on Linhoff’s premises to settle matters. It is alleged that Mrs. Bromley accompanied him and assaulted Linhoff. Mrs. Linhoff, who was on the porch, went into the house, and procuring a revolver, returned and fired five shots, one of them striking Bromley and passing through both lungs. Mrs. Linhoff is now under arrest and in jail, charged with murder. The preliminary hearing has not been set.
