Death of Corro{sic} Gordo's Sheriff.
Mason City, Iowa, Sept. 30.—Sheriff J. S. Confer dropped dead at 6:30 last evening at the county jail. He has complained of sickness the past two days but was able to drive to the country yesterday afternoon. After his return he suddenly went to the sofa and expired from apoplexy. He was 50 years old and was just finishing his third term in office.

Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows he is buried in Elmwood Saint Joseph’s Cemetery in Mason City and was born Nov. 28, 1857 and died Sept. 29, 1903.
