M'Manus Rites Held in Church
Pioneer Who Resided Near Dougherty Since 1870, is Buried

Dougherty- July 23- Requiem High Mass was celebrated at St. Patrick's for Thomas McManus.
His nephew, the Rev. J.J. Maquire of Shullburg, Wis. was celebrant, the Rev. E. J. Dougherty of Cresco, deacon, the Rev. Paul Maquire of Greene, subdeacon, the Rev. Arthur Merfeld of Dougherty, master of ceremonies, the Rev. E. J. O'Hogen, Rockwell, and the Rev. Howard Merfeld of Greene were present in the sanctuary.

Mr. McManus was born in Ireland in 1840, coming to this county when 20 and settled on a farm in Dougherty township in 1870. He lived there until his death Thursday.

Surviving are his wife and children, Redmond, Dennis, Thomas, and Mrs George Kelsh, of Dougherty, a son James of Wall S. Dak. a daughter
Alice having preceded him in death.

Will Mullaney of Ossian, Mr. and Mrs. Will Beckman of Castalia, Mr.and Mrs. James O'Dowd and family of Charles City, Mr. and Mrs. Philip Maquire and family of Greene, John Mullaney and daughter, Virginia, Mrs. Maggie Mizner of Mason City, John Beecher of Elma and Miss Ann Rooney of Minneapolis.
