FIDELITY OF A DOG

Shepard Dog Owned by Toner Stays By Dead Mistress
When Strangers are Led to the Spot. The Dog would not permit Approach,

The fidelity and loyality of a dumb animal was manifest in the death of Mrs. Michael Toner of Dougherty. It is now generally believed that the deceased came to her death by suicide, the deed being committed during a time of mental derangement.
She had been troubled with dizziness, and arising early she went to the Coldwater and sought death in the stream.
The faithful Shepard dog followed her, and for hours after the deed was committed the dog stood on the bank as near the body as he could get.
Strangers were led to the place by the apperance of the dog, but when they discovered the body in the stream and attempted to take it from the water, the dog objected and some of the family had to be called to the place before the dog would cease his vigil.
His hair was wet and from appearance of the clothing on the deceased the dog had evidently attempted to drag the body to shore.
