Anna Sweeney

Dougherty- Anna Grace (Dougherty) Sweeney 97, of Cedar Rapids, formerly of Dougherty, died Saturday (April 23, 1983) at the Americana Health Care Center of Cedar Rapids.

Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Immaculate Conception Church, Cedar Rapids, with the Rev. Alfred Brosius officiating.
Burial will be at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday in St. Patricks's Cemetery, Dougherty.

Visitation is from 3-9p.m. today at the Steward Funeral Home, Cedar Rapids, with the rosary to be said at 7 p.m. Visitation will also be held from 11 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at St. Patrick's Church in Dougherty.

Mrs.Sweeney was born Sept. 17, 1885 in Dougherty.
She married Edward F. Sweeney on May 5, 1906. She worked as a bookkeeper for Dougherty Lumber Company for many years.

She moved to Cedar Rapids in 1971, where she was a member of the Immaculate Conception parish in Cedar Rapids.

She was also a lifetime member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Dougherty.

She is survived by three daughters, Arlene M. Sweeney, Margaret C. Pencook, and Helen M. Balster, all of Cedar Rapids; four sons, Francis E. Sweeney, James M. Sweeney and Jerry J. Sweeney, all of Cedar Rapids, and Joseph E. Sweeney, McIntire; two brothers, Edward G. Dougherty, Dougherty, and Peter Dougherty, Elkader, 29 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren.
