Obituary

Mrs. Catherine O'Connor wife of John O'Connor of
Cartersville, passed quietly and peacefully away at Mercy Hospital, in Mason City at nine o'clock Wednesday evening, Dec. 27, after one month of intense suffering apparent relief coming a short time before the Angel of Death beckoned one more good christian soul to its eternal reward.

Catherine Murphy was born April 9, 1866 in Dubuque and was united in marriage with John O'Connor, on Sept. 10, 1884 at Placid, Iowa.
In 1889 they came to Cerro Gordo County, and made their new home on the farm near Cartersville where the famiy still reside.

She was essentially a mother who believed in the sanctity of the home, and her conception of life was serving others. A high sense of justice, and an exceptional charity that sprang from the heart, forgetting self in her solicitude for others and with such a sympathetic nature as to draw all to her is the memory she has left.

To know her was to love her. Her fidelity as a mother was only equalled by her devotion as a wife and her loyalty as a neighbor.
The ever ready helping hand will be sadly missed, not only in the home, but in the entire community.

She is survived by her grief-stricken husband, four sons and four daughters. George, of Sioux Falls, S.D., Mrs. Harry Cahalan of Cartersville; Joe, May, Martin, Loretta, Monica and Leo, who are at home; also one sister, Mrs Anna McLain of Aberdeen, S.D.

Funeral services were held at St. Patrick's church, Dougherty, on Saturday morning at 10 o'clock. Requiem High Mass was celebrated by Father Sheehey, of Rockford, assisted by Rev. J. J. Clune of Postville, Rev. J.F. Mauer, of Roseville, Rev. J. Hartigan and Rev. N. U. Keffler, of Rockwell, Rev. Malloy, (Rest is missing)
