Mrs E. P. Mitchell Dead

On Saturday morning, March 26th the people of this community were shocked and sorely grieved to learn of the sudden death of Mrs. Jane Mitchell, one of the most loved and respected women to this community.

The deceased had been in fairly good health up to the middle of January when she was seized with a very severe attack of inflamatory rheumatism which continued to become worse and more severe dispite all medical treatment until it finally developed into heart trouble, which was the immediate cause of her death.

Jane Donnelly born March 6, 1870 in Wisconsin, moved with her parents to Dougherty in the spring of 1888, being then a girl of eighteen years.
On June 5th,1900 she was married to Edward P. Mitchell, and most of her life was spent on the farm where with her husband they succeeded in making a comfortable home and a competancy sufficient to retire.

Two years ago they sold their farm and moved to town where they expected to enjoy a few years of rest from the toil of the farm.
Death, that unwelcome messenger came and shattered all their expectations leaving the husband alone in deep sorrow.

The deceased was an every day christian. The beautifying influences of a pure religion were spread over a life and character as spotless and charming as was ever possessed by any of the noble women who have lived and died during the ages that are past and gone. As such a life was a blessing and benefaction to all within the sphere of its influence so is the death of such a one a public misfortune.
