Patrick Gallagher was born on October -, 1854 in Letterkenny Co. Donegal, Ireland.

In the spring of 1874, he left his native land and came to Philadelphia, Penn. where he lived until October 1876, when he came west to the home of his uncle, Daniel Dougherty, the pioneer of Dougherty township.

On April 14, 1885, he was united in marriage to Anne Campbell and settled on a farm just west of Dougherty. Ten children blessed this marriage, they are: Daniel, Joseph, Mary, David, Frances, John, Bridget, Charles, Martin and Leo, two, Dan and John have already preceded their father into the eternal home.

When the children grew to be of school age he moved to his present farm that they might more easily take advantage of the school.
There he lived through the years and by his example and steadfastness taught those who were to follow him the great principles of life.

Finally two years ago he gave up active life on the farm and came to his new home in Rockwell, where in his preparations for a rest from labor---

Death, the untimely visitor came suddenly Monday morning, December 27th, 1920, and put an end to all his earthly aspirations.

In the passing of Mr. Gallagher one family loses a kind and devoted husband and father, and the community a highly respected citizen, a loyal neighbor and true friend always ready and willing
to lend a helping hand to those in need and his presence will not only be missed by his loved ones but by a host of friends as well.

The deceased was a devoted member and a regular attendant of Sacred Heart church where funeral services were held Wednesday morning, the pastor, Rev. Hartigan, celebrated the Requiem High Mass, assisted by three nephews of Mr. Gallagher, Rev. J. J. Boyle, Decon; Rev. Jos. (rest is missing).
