MASON CITY — Erna A. Doering, 31, died Friday (Dec. 26, 1997) at Heritage Care Center.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. James Lutheran Church with the Rev. David Anderson officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be sent to St. James Lutheran Church.

Erna A. Doering was born Jan. 19, 1916, in Mason City the daughter of Fritz and Elsie (Naumgallis) Doering. She graduated from Mason City High School. Erna worked for Yelland & Hanes for over 30 years as a book buyer retiring in 1980. She also worked a short time for American Optical here in Mason City. Erna was a member of St. James Lutheran Church and was inducted into the River City Softball Hall of Fame in 1982.

Survivors include one cousin, Herbert Doering, Mason City, and several second cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Eldengart "Ellen" and Waltraut Doering.

Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., is in charge of arrangements.
