Chas. Gallagher Passes Away (1916)

Seldom has it been our duty to record such a sad death as that of Charles Gallagher which occured at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs.John Gallagher Tuesday morning, Feb. 29th at the age of 18 years.
A dark gloom spread over the entire community when the news passed from one to another that Charles Gallagher had passed away.

The young man has been in poor health for some time but his condition was not considered serious until about three weeks ago, and for the past two weeks little hope has been entertained for his recovery. His death was due to mastoid infection and other complications.

None but those who have sat in the shadow of a great bereavement can weigh such sorrow as this.
Those who have gone down in the valley of the sufffering and stood for days by the side of a loved one as hope after hope dropped away as the petals fall from a fading flower, know that such anguish cannot find solace in the tenderest words.

It is indeed sad to give up one so young, and one whose influence among men would doubtless have been for good; who by precept and example was so well calculated to spread abroad the blessed influence of godly living.
Yet He who doeth all things well, makes no mistakes. The human link snapped asunder on earth is forged in heaven.
The yearning parents yearn not as one without hope. It is true that when youth is gone, not much of life remains, hence the dear one's eyes are closed to all earthly trials.
In his springtime of enthusiasum and tenderness ere the sunshine of hope and joy was extinguished he passed to the glorious beyond.

The deceased was a faithful member of St. Patrick's Church. He was not only faithful to his church, but just as faithful in believing that it was his duty as a christian to do the will of his Master at all times.

The obituary of this young man wil be published in our next issue.
Funeral services will be held Thursday morning from St. Patrick's church.
