W. F. Cahalan Funeral Set For Monday

William F. Cahalan, 28, Cartersville farmer, died suddenly Thursday afternoon at a Des Moines Hospital, following a brief illness.
He was a lifelong resident of the community.

Cahalan was born March 16, 1926,at Cartersville, son of Harry and Hannah O'Connor Cahalan.

He farmed in the Cartersville area except for the time he was in the service in the U.S. Navy in World War II.

He was a member of the Amvets Post 92, Mason City, and St. John's Catholic Church, Cartersville.

Surviving are his father, Harry G. Cahalan, Cartersville, two brothers, Paul Cahalan, Mason City, and Emerson Cahalan, Rockwell; and three sisters, Mrs. C.L. (Romona) Smith, Cartersville; Miss Dorothy Cahalan, Seattle, Wash.; and Mrs. George (Mary Lou) Anton, Oskaloosa.

He was preceded in death by his mother in 1943 and a brother Joseph in infancy.

Funeral services have been set tentatively for 10 a.m. Monday at St. John's Catholic Church in Cartersville, with Father Gilbert Lattner officiating.

Interment will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery at Rockwell.

Rosaries will be recited by the family and friends at 8:30 p.m. Saturday, by the Knights of Columbus Council 1006 of Mason City at 7 p.m. Sunday and by the parish at 8 p.m. Sunday, all the the Colonial Funeral Home in Mason City where friends may call from 2 p.m. Saturday until the time of services.
