MASON CITY --- Thomas Milburn Dixon, 97, of Mason City, IA, died Friday, November 17, 2017, at his home.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday November 25, 2017, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 213 N Pennsylvania Ave, with Pastor Kathy Graves officiating. Visitation will take place from 4:00 to 6:00 PM Friday, November 24, 2017 at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N Pennsylvania Ave. Interment will take place at Elmwood St-Joseph Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers the family asks that memorials be made out to Hospice of North Iowa, 232 2nd St SE, Mason City, IA 50401. Tom was born on February 1, 1920 in Greencastle, Missouri to William P Dixon and Ida (White) Dixon. When he was just a young boy the family moved from Greencastle Missouri to New Providence, Iowa and then in 1927 the family moved to Manly Iowa. He attended school in New Providence and Northwood Iowa.

Tom moved from Northwood to Mason City about 1939 and began work as a carpenter. He joined the U.S. Army in July 1943 and served in the Pacific Theater including Guadalcanal and Philippines Islands. Sgt. Dixon was honorably discharged from the army in June 1946.

Upon returning home, he began work as a carpenter once again. He retired after working for Don Gilbert Construction Company in 1977 after working for Don for over 18 years. After nearly 54 years of marriage June [Evelyn Pinneke Dixon] died on October 5, 1994.

Tom was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the Mason City VFW post. He enjoyed auctions, collecting clocks, traveling all over the Midwest to attend and participate in clock auctions and finally repairing clocks.

Tom is survived by his son Lonnie of Land O Lakes, FL; three grandsons Timothy Dixon, Peter Dixon, Aaron Dixon and granddaughter Ruth Anne Renee Dixon; 14 great-grandchildren and 9 great-great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law Myrtle (Pinneke) Hyde.

He was preceded in death by his wife June, 4 brothers and two sisters, 2 grandchildren.
