MASON CITY --- Earl Wayne Davis, 82, of 633 S. Jefferson Ave., died Tuesday (May 1, 2001) at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Fullerton Funeral Home, 123 Second St. S.E., Mason City, with the Rev. Dwight Webster officiating. Interment will be in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery, with military honors conducted by the Mason City Veterans Memorial Association. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to direct memorials to the Earl Davis Memorial Fund.

Earl was born June 9, 1918, the son of Floyd and Bessie (Smith) Davis, in Slater, Mo. On Oct. 10, 1942, he enlisted in the U.S. Army. He was an ammunition handler until his honorable discharge on Dec. 25, 1945. In 1948 Earl moved to Mason City and later found a job with Central States Auto Auction.

On June 11, 1960, Earl was united in marriage to Barbara Burton in Des Moines. From that point on the couple enjoyed traveling, going to county fairs, carnivals, circuses and zoos. Earl would also help Barbara out with her crossword puzzles. Earl was a member of the Knights of Pythias.

Those thankful for having shared in Earl's life include his wife, Barbara; one son, Floyd Davis; cousins Bill Woolery, and Barbara Brown, both of Mason City; and many other cousins and friends.

Mr. Davis was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Bessie Davis.
