Charles Wertz, 84, Succumbs

Funeral Rites to Be on Friday Afternoon

Charles Wertz, 84, merchant in Dougherty for 40 years, died at a local convalescent home Wednesday morning, following a lingering illness. He had been a resident of Mason City since 1940.

Mr. Wertz was born June 4, 1862, at West Port, Conn.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Maude H. Wepler, Mason City, and Mrs. Stella M. Parker,
Fairfield, Conn.

He was preceded in death by his wife in 1940, and since that time had made his home with his daughter in Mason City.

Mr. Wertz was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Sheffield.

Funeral services will be held at the Major Memorial Chapel at 2:30 p.m. Friday, with the Rev. Marvin O. Lee pastor of Central Lutheran Church, officiating.

Interment will be in Elmwood cemetery.
