CLEAR LAKE — Darlene “Dolly” Butner, 70, of 112 S. Eighth St., died Friday (August 31, 2007) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City.

Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 6, at Ward Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N Fourth St., Clear Lake, with the Rev. Jim Allard officiating. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service.

Memorials may be directed to the Darlene “Dolly” Butner Memorial Fund.

Darlene Butner was born on Jan. 11, 1937, in Clear Lake, the daughter of George and Geneva (Prestholt) Dodd. She attended Hanlontown schools and was a graduate of Hanlontown High School. Darlene then began work at the Mason City Library, before going to work for the Young Women’s Christian Association. While living in the North Iowa area, Darlene spent much of her time helping on the farm.

On May 13, 1977, she was united in marriage to Robert Butner in Sioux Falls, S.D. Robert and Darlene resided in the Clear Lake area where Darlene worked for Iowa Mold and Tool, before going to work for Pella Windows, from which she retired in 2003.

She enjoyed horses, traveling, riding motorcycles, camping, and especially spending time with family and friends.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Robert, of Clear Lake; three children: Mark Haugen, Alice Bramley, and Michael Haugen, all of Clear Lake; one step-daughter, Betty Rose, of Colorado; eight grandchildren: Joshua, Jenny, Jacob, Jessy, Jeffery, Jessica, Jasmine, and Shana; ten great-grandchildren; one brother, Byron (Bonnie) Dodd, of Manly; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Geneva, and her husband from her previous marriage, Dale Haugen.
