Thomas “Tom” Baltierra, 72, of Mason City, passed away Wednesday, November 14, 2018.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, November 21, 2018, at Epiphany Parish Holy Family Catholic Church, 722 N. Adams Ave., Mason City, with Reverend Jacob Rouse, Celebrant. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 20, 2018, at Hogan-Bremer-Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 3rd St. NE, Mason City. A Rosary will be said at 6:30 p.m., followed by a scriptural wake. Memorial contributions may be directed to Thomas Baltierra’s family.

Tom was born March 5, 1946 in Mason City, son of Joseph and Martha (Lopez) Baltierra. Tom graduated from the Mason City High School, class 1964. Following high school, he worked at Decker’s, Armour and retired from Hormel.

In 1966, Tom met Toni (Gomez) at the Surf Ball Room and later married in 1968. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on July 20, 2018. To this union, two children were born, Tori and Tommy Joe. Tom enjoyed spending time with family and extended family no matter what the event was; hunting, fishing, golfing, bowling, volleyball, softball, vacationing, etc. Tom especially enjoyed being a part of the annual Mexican American Iowa State Bowling Tournament. He loved his Mexican music and dances, especially dancing with the love of his life, Toni. He also had a deep love for his four Min-Pins and gave them a loving home. In Tom’s retired years, he enjoyed mentoring his three grandchildren.

Tom is survived by his wife, Toni Baltierra; daughter, Tori (Steven) Jermeland; son, Tommy Joe Baltierra; three grandchildren, Ronny, Kayden, Tessa Jermeland; two sisters, Lupe Flavin and Martina (Larry) Snyder, many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Tom is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Martha Baltierra; four brothers, Felix, Jesus (Jr.), Joe and John Baltierra; sister, Christina Arndt; father and mother in-law, Pete and Gretchen Gomez; four brothers in-law, Dennis Flavin, Alberto Muniz Jr., Robert Navarro and Antonio Garcia.
