MASON CITY — Michael J. Asada, 49, died Wednesday (Feb. 5, 1998) at North Iowa Mercy Health Center from complications of multiple sclerosis.

Funeral services were held Monday (Feb. 9, 1998) at the Thorson Funeral Home, Viroqua, Wis., with Rev. Dr. Steven Fossum officiating. Burial was in the Chapel Hill Cemetery at LaFarge, Wis.

Michael J. Asada was born Dec. 4, 1948, in Racine, Wis., the son of Frank and Patricia (McCoy) Asada. He served in the U.S. Navy and graduated from the University of Long Beach in California. He had been a professional landscaper and was a teacher before being disabled. He had been a resident of the Good Shepherd Care Center in Mason City. He had enjoyed surfing, fishing, chess and classical music.

He is survived by his mother, Patricia Asada, of Mason City; four sons, Frankie Asada of Santa Ana, Calif., Steven, Sean and Daniel of Forest City; one daughter, Michelle Quimby of Huntington Beach, Calif.; two sisters, Katie Homentowski of Citrus Heights, Calif., Terry Koett of Parker, Ariz.; and a special friend, Linda Thompson of Mason City.
