SUDDENLY SUMMONED (Nov. 8, 1903)

Mrs John Hogan Died Suddenly Sunday Morning With Heart Failure. Death Came Before the Family was Awake.

The startling announcement was made last Sunday morning that Mrs. John Hogan was dead.
Her many friends here could scarcely believe it at first, but later Dr. Abegg confirmed the rumour.

Death came to her quietly and it must have been painlessly and quickly, as she was lying in bed about 5 o'clock Sunday morning.

An arm dropping gently across the face of her husband who was lying beside her awakened him and he heard a slight sigh or gasp which alarmed him and caused him to call his wife's name.
Receiving no reply, he became alarmed and arose and hurriedly procurred a light and at once noticed that something unusual was the matter with Mrs. Hogan.
He awakened the family and sent for Dr. Abegg, who found that the lady had been dead for some time. He belives that death was caused by a blood clot forming in the circulating system somewhere in close proximity to the heart.

Mrs. Hogan was a friend to all who knew her, a true and loving wife, a kind and patient mother and a strong and faithful worker in the church-
an exemplary Christian during the thirty-six years of her life.

She left a loving husband and an interesting family of five children. Nora, age 16, Raymond and Ralph, twin boys age 13, Regina, age 10 and Walter age 7, to mourn her departure, besides her parents, brothers and sisters and a host of friends.

The funeral services were conducted Tuesday morning from St. Patrick's church of which deceased was a member, Father O'Reilly delivered a beautiful eulogy on the perfect life so suddenly extinguished, and explained most impressively the victory of virtue over death.
He used as a text to his sermon verses 51-57 chapter XV Corinthians.
Interment was made in St. Patrick's cemetery.
