Evelyn Doris Boyken, 93, went to her heavenly home on April 24, 2018 at Mercy Medical Center, surrounded by family and friends.

A funeral service will be held 10:30am Saturday (April 28, 2018) at Messiah Lutheran Church, Hwy 122 West, Mason City with Reverend Clarke Frederick officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5-7pm Friday (April 27, 2018) at Hogan-Bremer-Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 3rd St. NE, Mason City and will continue one hour prior to services at the church.

Evelyn was born on October 23, 1924 to Fred and Alice Lageschulte near Bremer, IA. She was baptized on Christmas Day 1924. She grew up on her parent's farm. She attended the same country school her parents did - kindergarten thru eighth grade near Bremer. She then attended Waverly High School and Wartburg College. She taught in country schools in Butler and Bremer Counties.

She met Donald DW Boyken in 1956 at the Waverly Bowl Inn. They were married in Warren on June 7, 1957 at the Evangelical United Brethren Country Church. They moved to Mason City in 1959, where the family business Aer-Vac was created.

They had one daughter, Suzette in 1958 and one son Danny in 1962.

The family made many trips to California to visit Don's parents and sister and Evelyn's sister Ruth and family.

After Don's death in 1984, Evelyn managed and was very active in Aer-Vac with the help of family until it closed in 2002.

Evelyn enjoyed her trips to Waverly, Shell Rock and Columbia, MO to spend time with family. She enjoyed every opportunity spent with her family and friends. She always referred to them as Precious Moments. Evelyn loved to watch baseball. She was a longtime dedicated fan of the St. Louis Cardinals, where the family made many trips to watch them play. She loved to collect anything that had Cardinals on it. She was always very excited to receive or find a new item she did not have. At one time we counted over 200 cardinals before giving up.

Evelyn was an active member of Messiah Lutheran Church and was one of the charter members when it was formed. She knew her life was in God's hands- even towards the end she expressed that several times. While in the hospital she was always smiling and blowing kisses to everyone that came into her room.

The family would like to thank all the people at Mercy Medical Center (especially in Critical Care) and at Heritage Care Center for everything they did for Evelyn. You went above and beyond.

Evelyn is survived by her daughter, Suzette (David) Reibsamen of Mason City, daughter in law, Lori Boyken of Columbia, MO; grandchildren, Michael Reibsamen of Ohio, Elizabeth (Luke) Reibsamen of Newton, IA, Joshua (Heather) Reibsamen, of Mason City, Katie (Jared) of Britt, IA, McKenna Boyken and Madison Boyken of Columbia, MO; great-grandchildren, Zach, Emmanuel, Tyanna, Lyric, Jaxson, Ben, Raven, Chase, Sommer, Karissa, Kayla, Emmalie and Tjaden; brother, Roger (Lee) Lageschulte of Shoreline, Washington; sister-in-law, Frances Lageschulte of Waverly, IA; brother-in-law, Harvey Carolus of Shell Rock, IA; sisters-in-law, Norma Boyken and Betty Boyken of Waterloo, IA; many nieces, nephews, cousins, her Messiah Lutheran Church Family and many friends who were all special.
