Wretha Flohr Bosma, 79, formerly of Mason City, Iowa, died December 11, 2017 in Colorado Springs, Colorado with family at her side after battling Alzheimer's disease. Born and raised on the family farm near Ottumwa, Iowa, Wretha was valedictorian of her high school before attending Iowa State University, where she met James (Jim) Flohr. Shortly after graduation, Wretha and Jim married and began their teaching careers in New Jersey.

When they returned to Iowa and settled in Mason City, Wretha was active at Wesley Methodist, and then First United Methodist churches, and later Congregational church, with choir, hand bells, Women's Circle, and committees. She was a member of PEO, Home Ec Club, Wa-Tan-Ye, White Shrine, and loved her bridge clubs and theater groups. A life-long seamstress, Wretha's sewing accomplishments were diverse, from wedding dresses and drapes to quilts, quilts, and more quilts! She was especially proud to create the paraments at First UMC. Early on, Wretha was a tailor for Gildner's, and then worked at Bette's, teaching sewing classes and selling Bernina sewing machines. She also taught night classes at NIACC, combining her love of sewing and teaching.

Wretha was employed for many years at Farm Credit Services, always enjoying the interaction with farmers and their families.

In 1989, Wretha married Clarence Bosma, and they continued to enjoy working with farmers and then traveling far and wide. After Clarence's death in 1996, Wretha traveled a bit more with family and friends, and even tried 'snowbirding' a few years to Apache Junction, AZ.

Wretha moved to Colorado in 2012 where she enjoyed her view of Pikes Peak, being close to Chris and Brian, and fiddling with fabric until the end. We are incredibly thankful for the support and care of our families, friends, clients, a very precious caregiver, and hospice.

Survivors include son Mike (Letty) Flohr and granddaughter Iliana of California, daughter Chris Flohr (Brian Anderson) of Colorado, sister Dorothy (Charles) Swanson, sister-in-law JoAnn Larson, brother-in-law Steve Flohr, and numerous nieces and nephews. Stepchildren John Bosma, Mark Bosma, Linda Bosma, and four step grandchildren.

Preceded in death by her parents, husbands Jim Flohr and Clarence Bosma, sister Helen Louise Myers.

Wretha's wishes were for her body to be donated to medical research and education. Interment will be at a later date in Storm Lake, Iowa.

Her losses and sorrows have been great, but her love greater. She looked forward to those who await.
