Miss A. Burke, 84, Succumbs

Services to be at Doughery Church

Miss Mary Alice Burke, 84, a resident of Dougherty for 67 years, died Monday evening at her home following a lingering illness. She was a retired postmistress of Dougherty where she served 35 years prior to 1940.

Miss Burke was born May 10, 1866, at Garryowen, Iowa, daughter of Patrick and Ann Burke. She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic church at Dougherty.

Surviving are two sisters, Sister Mary Martin, BVM, St. Pious Convent, Chicago, Ill, and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and seven sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Thursday at St. Patrick's church at Dougherty with Father P.J. Maquire officiating.
Friends may call at the Colonial Funeral Chapel after 4 p.m. Tuesday. After 11 a.m. Wednesday the body will lie in state at the home in Dougherty.

The Rosary will be said at 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Colonial Chapel and at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the home in Dougherty. Burial will be at St. Patrick's cemetery, Dougherty. The Colonial funeral home in charge.
