Robert Murphy, 54 Died on Thursday
Funeral Services Held In Dougherty Church

Robert E. Murphy, 54, of Dougherty, cashier of the Sheffield Savings Bank office there, died in a Mason City hospital on Saturday, Oct. 27. He had been handicapped with a heart condition for several years.

Monday evening at 8:00 o'clock St. Patrick's parish rosary was recited at the Murphy family home in Dougherty.
Funeral services were held in St. Patrick's church Tuesday morning at 9:30. Requiem High Mass was held with Rev. Ronald Axen officiating. Burial was made in St. Patrick's cemetery with a Mason City funeral home in charge of arrangements.
Robert E. Murphy, a son of Edward J. and Agnes (Burke) Murphy, was born on Oct. 29, 1903, at Felton Minn. He attended school at Dougherty and was graduated from Loras Academy and Loras College, Dubuque. He was married to Miss Lorena Mullen of Dougherty on Sept. 2, 1939. Mr. Murphy was a member of St. Patrick's church in Dougherty and the Knights of Colombus Council 1006 at Mason City.
Surviving are his widow and a son, James at home; his stepmother, Mrs. E. J. Murphy of Felton, Minn.; three sisters, Sister Mary Robert Clair, B.V.M. of Chicago, Ill., Mary E. Murphy of Minneapolis, Minn., and Vivian T. Murphy of Felton, Minn. Six brothers, Joseph B. Murphy of Ada, Minn., Edward A. Murphy of Fargo, N.D., Leo J. Murphy of Minneapolis, Minn., Clair B. Murphy of Davenport, Vincent E. Murphy of Moorehead, Minn. and Daniel B. Murphy of Felton.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and a brother.
Among those attending the services from away were the personnel of the Sheffield Savings Bank and other friends from this community.
