Charles E. Geesman, 94, of 835 6th St. Southeast, Mason City, died Tuesday, April 01, 2008, at the Muse-Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, April 5, 2008 at 10:00 AM at Hogan Bremer Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 3rd Street N.E. Mason City, with Rev. Jon M. Seda officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Elmwood St. Joseph Cemetery, with full military honors conducted by members of the Mason City Veterans Memorial Association.

Memorials may be made to Holy Family Catholic Church, or Hospice of North Iowa.

Charles was born the son of John C. and Stella (Schroeder) Geesman on November 9, 1913 in Sutherland, Iowa. The family moved to Alden, Minnesota when Charles was a small child. He attended school in Alden and moved to Mason City in 1936. He was married to Arlene Berg in 1939 at Holy Family Catholic Church. Charles enlisted in the U.S. Navy in August 1942, and proudly served until October 1945. He was employed by Davey and Moen Construction and the Pittsburgh Glass Co. until he started his own business, The Mason City Paint and Glass Company. He sold the business when he retired in 1976.

Charles enjoyed playing golf, bowling and most sports until he lost his eyesight. He has been in a wheelchair since 1992. He also listened to the Twins, Vikings, and music. Charles was a proud veteran and a member of the V.F.W. Post 733, and Holy Family Catholic Church.

He is survived by his wife, Arlene Geesman, Mason City, brothers, Howard "Pete" (Marilyn) Geesman, Eagle Grove, John Gordon Geesman, Charles City, sisters, Florence White, Fargo, North Dakota, Eileen (Bob) Wellman, Los Alamitos, CA, sister-in-law, Beverly (Reuben) Johnson, Ringsted, brother-in-law, Don (Dorothy) Berg, Hot Springs Village, Arkansas, his favorite niece, Rose Marie Mills, Mason City, his two favorite nephews, John T. Geesman, Mason City, and James H. Finneman and his family, Cedar Rapids, and many other beloved nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 sisters, Gena Eddy Rouf, Lila Menke, and Nina Gisch, 3 brothers, James W. Geesman, Gerald Geesman and Earl Geesman, and his nephew, Douglas Eddy.
