Sunday, March 06 2011MASON CITY — Marie Gazes, 83, of Mason City, died Friday, March 4, 2011, at Mercy Medical Center- North Iowa.
A Trisagion prayer service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, March 7, 2011, at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., with the Rev. Joseph Mirowski of the Holy Transfiguration Greek Orthodox Church officiating. Interment will be held in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Hospice of North Iowa or the Holy Transfigura-tion Greek Orthodox Church.
Marie was born on Jan. 2, 1928, in Mason City, the daughter of Louis and Julia (Drascovich) Gazes. She attended and graduated from Mason City schools. She worked for Qwest Communications for over 34 years until her retirement.
Marie enjoyed volunteering for numerous organizations in Mason City over the years. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents; parents; and brother, Michael A. Nikolich in 2000.
