Ysabel Jaco Garza was born on July 7, 1925 to Faustino and Tomasa (Jaco) in Millett, Texas. As an adolescent he began working as a migrant worker who followed the crops north, where he met the love of his life, Guadalupe “Lupe” Servantez at a Mexican dance. They were married on October 7, 1949 and then resided in Mason City. Ysabel worked for Jacob E. Deckers and Sons then Armour Foods for 32 years until retirement. He was an extremely hard worker his entire life.

Ysabel enjoyed going to Mexican dances, gardening and looked forward to Sunday lunches surrounded by his children and grandchildren. For many years, into his mid 40's, he loved playing fast pitch softball. He was involved in various ball clubs in Mason City.

Ysabel will be remembered as being a “grandpa” and “godfather” to many and for his delightful smile that he could always be seen wearing.

He was a member of Epiphany Parish-Holy Family Catholic Church, founding member of the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC Club) later to become Hispanic Citizens Club of Mason City; organizing many Mexican American dances as fund raisers.
