MESERVEY, IA - Kevin L. Pals, age 64, of rural Meservey, IA, a longtime employee of Golden Grain Coop, Mason City, IA, died, March 26, 2018, at Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient, Mason City, following a long and courageous battle with health issues.

Visitation will be on Friday, March 30th, 5-7 PM, at Andrews Funeral Home, 516 1st Street S.E., Belmond and will continue one hour prior to the services at church. Memorials or expressions of sympathy may be directed in care of Kevin's family to his wife Linda.

Kevin Lew Pals, the son of Richard and Ruth (Halfpap) Pals, was born July 27, 1953, at Belmond, IA, and was the twin to his sister Kay. He attended and graduated from Sheffield-Chapin, Meservey-Thornton Schools. In the earlier years of his life he was raised in the First Reformed Church of Meservey.

Following his graduation from SCMT, Kevin farmed for a period of time. For many years he had been a dedicated and proficient employee of Golden Grain Coop in Mason City, in ethanol production where he worked many long hours and had worked tirelessly almost to the time of his passing. Kevin's work ethic was terrific.

Throughout his entire life journey he had a passion for the outdoors and all the wonders and adventures that came with it. From his times working the earth and fulfilling the tasks of farming, to the pulse pounding occasions in pursuit of big game such as Elk, Deer, and Bear, or the sudden rush of a flushing pheasant, on one of his many hunting treks during his healthy years of life. Kevin also looked for outings to various fishing destinations and the solitude and tranquility that times on the water brought to his life.

Kevin enjoyed his Labradors and currently enjoyed the companionship of his yellow lab 'Sophie '. He loved all animals and not only those he pursued on hunting and fishing trips, but also his wife Linda's horses, the rooster pheasant and other creatures that would often be found about the farm. He would often transplant raccoons, snakes, and other critters away from the farmstead to other wildlife habitats.

Kevin was a simple man who was reserved in nature and truly enjoyed the simple pleasures of life including the fulfillment of his hard work, nature's wonder, and foremost his family. He loved his wife and children and adored his grandkids, who often referred to him as 'Gramps'.

Kevin and his wife Linda Paumen were married in Las Vegas, NV, on Sept. 1, 1992. For the last 25 plus years they have enjoyed their family together and their life on the farm.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Pals. Meservey, IA; daughter Stephanie (Gordon) Heavers and their children Gage, Kasara, and Kade Heaver, Dassel, MN; and sons Craig (Paulette) Paumen and their daughter Dawn, Hopkinsville, KT, and also Curt (Robin) Paumen, Maple Lake, MN; Kevin's mother Ruth Pals, Belmond, IA; his twin sister Kay (Doug) Kurash, Mesa, AZ, and sister Carolyn Franko, Scottsdale, AZ; other grandchildren, and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his father Richard Pals, aunts and uncles and other extended family.
