Tuesday, September 04, 2007BLOOMINGTON, Minn. — DeWayne W. Grant, 76, of Bloomington, Minn., passed away August 27, 2007.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, Sept. 7, at 11 a.m. at the Christ the King Lutheran Church, 8600 Fremont Ave. S., Bloomington, Minn. Visitation will be Thursday, Sept. 6, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Washburn-McReavy Werness Brothers Chapel, 2300 West Old Shakopee Rd., Bloomington, Minn.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
DeWayne was born in Mason City, Iowa, on June 30, 1931, to William and Grace Grant Westendorf.
DeWayne was a 1949 graduate of Mason City High School. He was a Naval airman serving on the USS Midway (41) Aircraft Carrier during the Korean Conflict. He was a bricklayer and insurance agent. DeWayne was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who dearly loved his family.

He was preceded in death by beloved daughter, Monica; sister, Dixie; sister-in-law, Louise; and favorite aunt, Tillie.
DeWayne is survived by loving and caring wife of 51 years, Helen (Garufis). DeWayne was her world, partner in everything, best friend, husband, great dancer, Viking buddy, and love of her life. Also survived by daughter, Stephanie Grant; grandchildren: Brandon, Jessica, Christina, and Angela; sister, Coral English; lifelong friend, Dick Moore; canine friend, Athena; and many other relatives and friends.
Arrangements are by the Washburn-McReavey Werness Brothers Chapel, 2300 West Old Shakopee Rd., Bloomington, MN 55431.
