August 21, 2014MASON CITY -- June Marie Gansen, 70, of Mason City, died Tuesday, August 19, 2014 at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 22, 2014, at the First United Methodist Church, 119 S. Georgia, with Rev. Sean McRoberts officiating. Interment will be in Elmwood St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue, and continue at the church Friday one hour prior to services.
Memorials may be directed to Hospice of North Iowa or the Bell Tower Restoration at First United Methodist Church. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.majorericksonfuneralhome.com .
June was born June 8, 1944, in Le Roy, Minnesota, the daughter of Carl and Marie (Reich) Wilcox. June was united in marriage to Larry “Joe” Gansen January 27, 1962, in Marble Rock. June worked for Seabee Corporation as a receptionist for 19 years. Following her retirement, she worked part-time at JC Penney and later enjoyed working with her friends at State Street Deli.
June was a member of the First United Methodist Church and served on the membership committee. Some of her interests included her yard and gardening, attending plays and dining out. June loved traveling, especially times at the beach. She relished anytime she could prepare a delicious meal for her entire family, always making it extra special with her attention to detail.
June enjoyed time spent with her YMCA water aerobics class and her book club. June treasured spending time with her friends and cherished the time with her grandchildren. She will be remembered for her loving heart, grace and kindness towards everyone she met.
June is survived by her son, Joe E Gansen of Mason City; daughter, Jackie Vogelgesang of Mason City; grandchildren, Sydney and Spencer Vogelgesang; siblings, Linda (Tom) Walker of Lake City, MN, Janet (Gerald) Haagenson of Mabel, MN, Leon (Robin) Wilcox of Brownsdale, MN, Dale Wilcox of Ventura, Tom Wilcox of Le Roy, MN, Russell Wilcox of Riceville; brother-in-law, Tony (Dian) Gansen of Round Rock, TX, Scott (Lisa) Soifer and children of Charles City, Shaun (Lacey) Soifer and children of Charles City, Regina Soifer of Charles City, Stuart (Karen) Soifer and children of Crest Hill, IL, Alissa Crespo and children of Plainfield, IL; several nieces and nephews.
June was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Larry in 2005; brothers, George and Robert Wilcox; special friend, Sam Soifer; brother-in-law, Joe Erickson; father and mother-in-law, John and Thelma Gansen.
