MASON CITY -- Alice V. Galvin, 83, of 2 North Quincy Terrace, died Saturday (March 11, 2000) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Fullerton Funeral Home, 123 Second St. S.E. with the Rev. Kathy Graves officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery, Mason City. Visitation will be held from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Fullerton Funeral Home.

Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the Alice V. Galvin Memorial Fund.

Alice was born on Oct. 3, 1916, at Tracy, Minn., the daughter of LeRoy Charlie and Ada Stafford. She was employed for more than 30 years in the casing department of J.B. Decker and Sons meat packing plant.

She met Melvin Peterson at an early age and was united in marriage. She later was married to Robert Galvin in 1965. She was an active member of the Women of the Eagles. She enjoyed fishing when she was younger, around Clear Lake, Rice Lake, and with an occasional trip to Okoboji. She also enjoyed playing "Hucklebuck" and "21" card games with her friends.

Those who shared in Alice's life include her daughter, Vicky and her husband, Lowell Murphy, Mason City; her four sons, Gary and his friend, Roberta Peterson, Ft. Bragg, Calif.; Dennis and his wife, Delores Peterson, Melvin and his wife, Carol Peterson Jr., Clifford and his wife, Sandra Peterson, all of Mason City; 13 grandchildren; and 16 great- grandchildren.

Those who preceded her in death include her parents, her stepfather, Roy Thomas, one son, Terry Blaine Peterson, one granddaughter, Laurie Peterson, one grandson, Dennis Dean Peterson, one sister, Maryan Tootie Hafferkamp, and one brother, Clifford Bud Stafford.
