MASON CITY — Marjory Marie Van Duzer, 90, died Tuesday (May 30, 2006) at the Good Shepherd Health Center in Mason City.

Marjory was born on July 2, 1915, in Menlo, Iowa, the daughter of Thomas Ralph and Ethel B. (Mount) Van Duzer. She graduated from Menlo High School in 1933, and worked as a nurse’s aide following graduation. In 1957, Marjory, along with her parents, Ralph and Ethel, moved to Mason City.

For many years, Marjory was an avid walker, enjoyed playing the piano, attending summer municipal band concerts and the North Iowa Band Festival. She always had a smile and friendly greeting for everyone she saw. Marjory was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Mason City.

Marjory will be greatly missed by her two nieces, Marilyn Johnson and her husband, Steve, of Clear Lake and Julie Elting and her husband, Jim, of Madison, Conn.; one great-niece, Abbie Smith, and her husband, Jason, of Mesa, Ariz.; and three great-nephews, Gregory Johnson and his wife, Anne, of West Des Moines, Ryan Elting and his wife, Lindsay, of Carrboro, N.C., and Andrew Elting of Arlington, Va.

Marjory was preceded in death by her parents; and brothers, Charles Wayne Van Duzer and Franklin Kenneth Van Duzer.

Graveside services will be held at a later date at Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City.

The family requests any memorials be directed to Hospice of North Iowa in her memory.
