Saturday, December 16, 2000MASON CITY — Arthur “Bud” Poppe, 66, of 527 16th St. S.E., died Friday (Dec. 15, 2000) at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa.
A funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday St. James Lutheran Church, Mason City with the Rev. David Anderson officiating. Burial will be in Sunnyside Memorial Gardens, Charles City at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 22.
Memorials may be given to the Arthur “Bud” Poppe Memorial Fund.
Visitation will be held from noon to 1:30 p.m. Monday at St. James Lutheran Church.
Art was born on March 12, 1934 in Butler Co. He graduated from Floyd High School in 1952. He served in the United States Navy from 1952 to 1960.
He married Patricia Roy on Sept. 8, 1957 and they had three children. In 1965 the family moved from Mason City to LaCrescenta, Calif., where he worked as a carpenter for 30 years. They returned to Mason City in 1995. Through the years, he enjoyed riding motorcycles, dancing, hiking and telling jokes. He was a member of the Moose Lodge and a lifetime member of the VFW.
Art is survived by his wife, Patricia (Pat) Poppe, Mason City; three children, Jacqueline Worcester, Jeff Poppe, of Anaheim, Calif., Jan Johansen and husband, Dennis, of Portland, Ore.; five grandchildren, Tanya Lane and husband, Paul, Gabe Juarez and Ted, Jon and Krysten Johansen; and sister, Marilynn Johnson, of Mason City.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
