Delores McDowall January 26, 1930 - February 19, 2018

Delores McDowall, 88, of Mason City, died Monday (February 19, 2018) at her home in Mason City surrounded by her loving family.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am, Saturday (February 24, 2018) at Epiphany Parish – Holy Family Catholic Church, 714 N. Adams Ave., Mason City, with Rev. Neil Manternach, Celebrant. Burial will follow in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery, Mason City.

Visitation will be held Friday evening (February 23, 2018) from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm at Hogan Bremer Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 3rd St. NE., Mason City. The Rosary will be recited at 6:00pm.

Delores Marie Jimenez was born on January 26, 1930 in Omaha, Nebraska, the daughter of John and Lupe (Martinez) Jimenez. Delores was raised in Mason City and at the age of 18 was united in marriage to Mingo Torres. Together they would be blessed with 3 children, John, Navarro, and Marlene. Mingo would precede Delores in death in 1972.

On July 19, 1974 Delores would be united in marriage to Murray T. "Mac" McDowall at the Little Brown Church in Nashua.

Delores was well known among her family for her homemade Sunday dinners. She was a fabulous cook and had mastered both American and Hispanic cuisine. She loved to play Poker and hosted Poker weekends, which began Friday night and oftentimes lasted through Sunday evening. As a member of a traveling card club, Delores could often be found at the Eagle's or Elk's Lodge playing cards with her friends.

Among her other hobbies, Delores enjoyed shopping and loved searching among the treasures at Goodwill, or in her words. "Goody." She was a longtime bowler and enjoyed bowling in league until the age of 85, earning many trophies and achievements along the way. Delores also enjoyed getting together with her fellow ladies of the Red Hat Society for their monthly lunch meetings.

Delores was a member of Epiphany Parish - Holy Family Catholic Church and sang in the choir for Mass for Our Lady of Guadalupe.

Those grateful in sharing in her life are her children, John Torres, Navarro (Kathy) Torres, and Marlene Torres, all of Mason City; her siblings, John Jimenez, Spirit Lake, Jimmy Jimenez, Mason City, Ralph Jimenez, Fort Myers, Florida, Ed Jimenez, Mason City, and Louise (Phil) Love, Dubuque; and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and extended relatives.

Delores is preceded in death by two husbands, Mingo Torres and Murray McDowall; her parents, John and Lupe Jimenez; grandchildren, Joaquin, Deon, Alain, Toni, and Matthew; and siblings, Margaret Levenhagen, Dorothy Wood, Gloria Bailey, and Tom Jimenez.
