Sylvia Kropman April 2, 1922 - February 10, 2018

Mason City, Iowa -Sylvia Kropman, 95 a long time Mason City business woman and resident, died Saturday, February 10, 2018 (10 Shevat 5778) at Good Shepherd Health Center where she was a resident for five years.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Friday, February 16, 2018 at Fullerton Funeral Home, 123 2nd ST SE, Mason City. Services will be led by Michael Libby the Spiritual Leader for the Adas Israel Synagogue. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services. Interment will be in the Adas Israel section of Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery. Those planning on an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the Sylvia Kropman Memorial Fund.

Sylvia was born on April 2, 1922 in St. Louis, Missouri the daughter of Hyman “Chaim” and Deborah “Devorah” Hartstein Zuckerman. She was the eldest of three children. She graduated with the class of 1941 from Soldan High School in St. Louis.

On January 2, 1949 she was united in marriage to Leonard Kropman in St. Louis. They moved to Mason City that year and opened Kropman Grocery where they worked together to build their business and life in Mason City. In 1975 they closed the store.

Sylvia was a very active member of the Adas Israel Synagogue and took great care of the membership. She was a past president of the Hadassah Sisterhood, and a member of the Lioness Club and RSVP.

She was a great volunteer in her spare time, giving many hours to the Red Cross as a volunteer as well as a faithful donor of blood. She also volunteered for Mercy Hospital spending much of her time at West Campus. She donated time at the Democratic Party headquarters. Delivered for meals on wheels and volunteered for several other organizations.

Sylvia is survived by her three children Sharon, Elliott and David, all of Mason City, along with one sister Marion Cohen of St. Louis, MO, and many cousins nieces and nephews.

Her husband Leonard in 2008, on brother Israel Zuckerman and her parents preceded her in death.
