January 08, 2015Victor Martinez of Cotulla, Texas, formerly of Mason City, Iowa, passed away on Jan. 1, 2015, at the age of 87. He was born on Dec. 25, 1927, to Ascencio and Maria Martinez.
Mr. Martinez is preceded in death by his wife, Maria Luisa Garcia Martinez and siblings, Lola Lozano, Ricarda Sanchez, Gilberto Martinez and Andres Martinez.
Mr. Martinez is survived by his children, Victor Martinez Jr. (Amada Perez Martinez†), Ascencio (Teresa) Martinez, Cleotilde Garcia Martinez (Ben Villarreal), Berta (Don) Alberts, Jose Luis (Francis Elias) Martinez and Omaida Martinez; grandchildren, Jason Martinez, Lori Martinez, Sonia Alvarez, Vickey Thompson, Joseph Alvarez Jr., Anna Ramirez, Jesse Ramirez, Lisa Ramirez, Eric Alberts, Amber Alverts, Mckenzie Alberts, Adriana Alvarado, Alicia Martinez, Ericha Weberg, Janette Powell, Alejandra Peterson, Audri Peterson, Olivia Peterson and Ava Marie Martinez; siblings, Margarita Martinez Lozano and Roberto Martinez. He is also survived by 30 great- grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Visitation was held on Friday, Jan. 2, 2015, at Peters Funeral Home, Cotulla, Texas, from 6 to 8 p.m. with a rosary at 7 p.m. Funeral services were held at noon on Saturday, Jan. 3, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Cotulla, Texas. Interment followed at the Sacred Heart Cemetery.
The family entrusted all funeral arrangements to Peters Funeral Home, 500 N. Main St., Cotulla, Texas; 830- 879-2615.
