MARBLE ROCK- Joyce Losee, 95, of Marble Rock, IA, and formerly of Mason City, IA, died Saturday, March 17, 2018, at the Rockwell Community Nursing Home in Rockwell, IA. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, March 21, 2018, at Faith Baptist Church, 1807 S. Kentucky Avenue – Mason City, with Rev. Dave Callison officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the Mason City Veterans Association. Visitation will be held two hours prior to the church service. Interment will take place at the Hillside Cemetery in Marble Rock. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.majorericksonfuneralhome.com.

Iola Joyce Christensen was born January 8, 1923, in Swaledale, IA, the daughter of Alfred and Cecelia (Tibbits) Christensen. She graduated from Swaledale High School in 1940, and continued her education in Sioux City, IA, where she graduated from Nurses training in 1944. In 1945, Joyce enlisted in the U.S. Army Nurses Corp. and proudly served her country during WWII until her honorable discharge in 1946. Joyce was united in marriage to Claude L. Losee on September 7, 1946, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA. Over the years she worked as a school nurse at R.R.M.R. (18 years) and Good Shepherd Health Center (15 years) until her retirement in 1991. Joyce enjoyed spending time with her family, church, going for walks and taking care of others. She was a member of Faith Baptist Church and the Mercy Alumni Association.

Joyce is survived by 3 children: Duane Losee and wife Connie of Mason City, Jane Ong and husband Nick of Sanibel, FL, and Gary Losee and wife Jan of Marble Rock; 7 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and 1 great great grandchild. She is also survived by her special friends: Bob, Toni and Ryan Erickson of Mason City.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1993; brother: Melvin Christensen; and 2 sisters: Lola Mondahl and LaMae Holmen.
